Cerith snails are a small and attractive marine snail that seem to do very well in the home aquarium providing it is reasonably well established, not ideal as a first clean up crew for newly cycled tanks but if added after a few months most people manage to keep them much longer than many other snails.
The small size of Cerith snails doesn't stop them from being a very useful addition to your marine tank, Cerith snails have a large appetite and will feed on detritus, fish waste, uneaten food, many types of algae and cyanobacteria (red slime algae).
Cerith snails will often work their way deep into your sand bed too, this is beneficial as they not only clean as they go but turn the sand over oxygenating it and preventing it from compacting.
