Favites are an excellent choice of LPS coral to liven up marine tank rocks, Favites species primarily encrust the substrate they're fixed to bringing life and colour wherever they go. They're a moderately quick growing coral if given good conditions.
Favites corals can often be seen extending their short feeding tentacles, feeding on suitably sized zooplankton or suitably sized coral foods. The feeding response brings an element of movement as well as being an engaging observation of natural behaviour.
Moderate light and moderate flow are preferred and are a good starting position for this coral. Often seen growing into areas of higher and lower light, adjusting to conditions as it progresses.
